Brandon Byrd, age 42, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022, surrounded by his family and friends in the comfort of his home.
He was born in Memphis, TN on November 19, 1979 to Dan and Regina Cochran Byrd. As a teenager, Brandon attended Munford High School, and later received his G.E.D., going on to earn a degree in marketing and accounting with Westwood College Online. He worked as a painter and sand-blaster for I.P.L. in Brighton. He married, became a husband and father, and at the young age of 24, experienced an injury that resulted in Brandon becoming a quadriplegic. Although he relied heavily on his family and friends for basic daily life, he never let his wheelchair or his bed stop him!
To anyone that knew him, and even those that didn't but had heard his story, Brandon was an inspiration. Some have said that it was impossible to have a bad day around him. He was strong in his faith and strong in willpower, and he instilled that into his children. He was family-oriented, and so happy when everyone would gather together. He was also a prankster, pulling jokes on his nurses, family and friends every chance he could. His outlook on life was amazing, and he was able to touch many lives.
Brandon leaves behind two sons that he was incredibly proud of: Devon Byrd, the eldest, for his service in the United States Army, and the youngest son, Andon Byrd for his talent and love of music and school band. He is also survived by his father, Danny (Marilyn) Byrd; three siblings, Staci (Erskine) Mason, Ashley Campbell, and Tyler Byrd; six nieces, Alexis (Zane) Crider, Haley Mason, Dixie Woods, Maddie Woods, Kenzie Woods, and Lenzie Woods; three nephews, Chandler Mason, Brodie Woods, and Bentley Byrd, and his children's "Nana", Michael Lynn Vinas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Regina Sue Byrd; his aunt, Sherry Gail Byrd; his grandparents, Robert Earl Cochran, Mary Lois Cochran, Glenda Landreth, and Red Byrd, and the mother of his children, Desiree Vinas.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel at 1 pm. Pastor Tony Elam will officiate the services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in Morrison Memorial Cemetery in Brighton, Tennessee.
