Carl M. Huntsinger, 88, of Black Mountain, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Charles George VA Medical Center Valor Hospice.
Carl was born February 12, 1936, in Buncombe County to the late Lawrence and Hattie Huntsinger. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served from 1954 – 1958. Carl was a truck driver for 62 years and retired from ABF Trucking. He was a member of Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church for 23 years where he served in the Bus Ministry. He enjoyed playing golf and working in his garden. Carl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Martin Huntsinger; sisters, Vauldie Cakebread, Jessie Jones, and Carrie Sands; brother, Edward Huntsinger; and stepbrother, Earl Taylor.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 27 ½ years, Janice Huntsinger; daughters, Terrie Craig (Marvin) and Carla Hardy (Erin); stepdaughters, Kathy Hunter, Donna Rice (Eddie), Barbara Trombatore (Tom), and Brenda Williams (Tony); 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00pm at Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at the church with Rev. Daryl Grimes and Randy Stone officiating.
A private family interment will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
