Doris J. Huntsinger of Republic, Missouri passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Doris Jean (Lammers) Huntsinger was born December 26, 1933, the 5th child of 9 to Fred and Florence Lammers in Port Townsend, Washington.
Doris was a proud Navy veteran who served with honor and distinction. She joined the Navy in 1953 and after bootcamp she was stationed in Seattle, Washington, where she met and married a Army Sargent, James (Jim) C. Huntsinger on July 8, 1955. Jim preceded her in death on February 27, 2013.
Being a military wife, her life was filled with adventure. She traveled to many countries along with Jim when he was stationed in Newfoundland, Ethiopia, Africa and Germany. They retired and spent their final years in Republic, Missouri.
Doris's family was blessed to have her in their lives. Surviving to honor her memory are her three sons, Gary (Joyce) Huntsinger, Overland Park, Kansas, Mark (Vicki) Huntsinger Aurora, Colorado and Richard (Kate) Huntsinger, Kapolei, Hawaii, one sister, Marie Anderson and one brother, Larry Lammers of Jefferson County, Washington along with numerous extended family members and friends.
Both of her parents preceded her in death along with her brothers and sisters, Herman, Helen, Clarence, Henry, Mildred and Lois.
Doris's patriotism was infectious and she was proud to be an American and was grateful for the men and women who served our county.
Doris lived a full life. She enjoyed talking to people, never met a stranger and made many lifelong friends along the way.
She was truly loved and will forever be missed. She served her life's purpose and is now resting peacefully in heaven.
In memory of Doris and her life, Doris's family ask that you proudly display the American flag and vote, a right she exercised. Or send a word of appreciation to the people about whom you care; or send a letter of complaint to an entity that failed to do its duty.
Visitation will be held on November 21, 2024, from 10:30 – 11:30 A.M. with a memorial service to follow at 11:30AM. at Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, Missouri. A private interment, with military honors will be held in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.

I meet Doris last year when my mother, Florence, moved into St. Anthony´s. She was so welcoming to mom and had such a positive outlook on life. She loved to talk about her three sons and her life in the military. I looked forward each week to seeing Doris working her puzzles. She was a great lady and will forever be the missing piece at St. Anthony´s.
Rest in Peace sweet lady!
