Carl Martin Woods, 84 of Midland, MI, passed away at home surrounded by his family on January 28, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Carl was a beloved husband, father, and friend, whose life story was told in living out his principles as demonstrated by hard work, generosity, devotion, and character.
Carl was born in Barryton, MI on May 27, 1940 to Martin and Esther (Heimbecker) Woods. He graduated in 1958 from Evart High School at the top of his class, studied electronics via correspondence from Devry Tech, then attended college at Michigan Technological University, Bay City Junior College, Delta College, and Central Michigan University receiving a degree in Chemistry.
Carl worked for Dow Corning for 39 years as a chemist and an Information Research Specialist. He was a devoted Christian who lived his faith through a loving commitment to family and in serving others. He enjoyed nature and God's creation through travel, leisure, and working the land. In retirement, Carl returned to his love of farming, becoming a master gardener and maintaining the family farm in Evart.
Carl was predeceased by: his brother, John Woods; sister, Kay Forbes and parents. He is survived by: his devoted wife of 65 years, Onda (Orwig) Woods; children, Kim (Rick) McKibben, Randy (Sharilyn) Woods, and Kelli (Mark) Tilton; grandchildren, Christine Junker, Michelle Ladd, Ryan (Taylor) Woods, Lauren Woods, and Morgan Klauber; great-grandchildren, Madeleine Wilson, Renee Wilson, Blake Ladd, and Callie Ladd; many nieces, extended family and friends.
Carl will be remembered for his commitment to God, his kind heart, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on February 4, 2025 at Corey Funeral Home, 415 N. Main St., Evart, with visitation starting at 11:00am. Donations in Carl's honor can be made to Brooks Corners United Methodist Church in Sears, MI or Midland Nazarene Church in Midland, MI.
