Carol E. Alessandrini was born July 13, 1938, and on Sunday, March 16, 2025, she laid down her head for a nap and peacefully left this earth. Preceding her death were those of her husband, Antonio Alessandrini; parents, Albert and Florence Donant; brothers, Robert and Edward Donant; and sister, Mary Jane Donant.
Born and raised in Canton, Carol attended Central Catholic High School, where she was a proud member of the marching band and made lifelong friendships that she kept through this day. Her life was one full of family, friendship, and crafting. Creating and selling crafts, whether sewing, crocheting, or floral arranging, was something that not only gave her tremendous happiness, but also purpose. For her, the best part was meeting people and bringing them a sense of joy, and she continued to do it well past her eightieth birthday. Later in life when she was a resident of Meadow Wind Healthcare facility in Massillon, she would continue making people smile and laugh just by being ornery or silly. The staff and residents there adored her. She also loved entertaining and playing cards and games, especially if she was winning. Together with her best friend and husband, Tony, they loved any game with friends or a good round of cribbage between themselves. She also enjoyed puzzles and the Cleveland Guardians, rarely missing a game on TV. What it all came down to for Carol was finding the joy in the simple things and sharing that joy with others. She seldom complained. She was the most loving mother a son could ask for.
She is survived her son, Kenneth "Vinnie" Alessandrini; daughter, Paula (Otis) Vestfals; son, Robin (Edi) Alessandrini; and her big sister, Nancy Glutting; as well as grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Lamiell Funeral Home, 1353 Cleveland Avenue, NW, Canton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 10:00 AM, St. Paul Catholic Parish, 241 S. Main Street, N. Canton. Father Matthew Zwilling will serve as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Massillon.

Carol Gresham

May 6, 2025

Kenny, we are just seeing this. The Gresham family is so sorry to hear of Carol's passing. We were all together yesterday and the boys, now 30 and 27, were going over the childhood memories and they brought up Tony and Carol. We loved them dearly and yes playing games with them, especially cards is one of our fondest memories. I too also enjoyed crafting with Carol. My favorite times with her was what she called "Border Calls" which meant we went to Taco Bell, her favorite. She and I would go, Tony was never a fan. She was like a kid in a candy store, savoring every bite, then after we would go back to her house and play 2000 rummy for a couple of hours. Unfortunately they last few years our times of getting together came to a close and for that I am sorry. I too have become a full time care taker of aging parents, taking 3 of the 4 into our home. Denny' parents have now passed and my mom is now with us. I am sorry that I did not get a chance to say goodbye. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Denny, Alex, Aaron and I carry MANY happy memories of your parents, both were good people, kind and a great sense of humor, and loved us like family.
