Carol Lynn Gusse of Macomb, Michigan, joined her late husband of 46 years Carl (April 2023) in eternity, January 16, 2024. Born in Detroit, Michigan to Sarah and Thomas Agemy, and raised by her mother Sarah and stepfather Hubert Bary, Lynn grew up in a Detroit duplex with her brother Greg and her late sister Donna. She attended Denby High School and Macomb Community College where she met her husband, Carl. She and Carl lived in Warren, MI, where they raised their family surrounded by a loving network of neighbors. In retirement they moved to Macomb, MI where they again were blessed by a kindhearted community who frequently helped them. Lynn held numerous jobs over the years, including a crafting business through which she expressed her creative skill and engaged her extroverted nature. However, more than anything, Lynn was a mom. She was devoted mother to Tina (Paul) Fuelling, Matthew (Eleftheria) Gusse, and Crystalyn (Brian) Van Hevel, showing them endless, unconditional love. She cherished her children, worrying over them constantly and doing everything within her capability to encourage, build, and support them. Moreover, she “mothered” many of their friends, family friends, nieces, nephews, and random strangers throughout her lifetime—offering a listening ear, word of encouragement, deep compassion, and immeasurable care to all she met. Lynn’s love for her grandchildren, Ashlyn (Alec) Badour, Kayden Van Hevel, Jayce Van Hevel, and Lukas Gusse, was boundless. Her pride shone on how her princess perseveres, her baby boys (now young men) excel, and her youngest lives life fully. When they were young, she cuddled, coddled, and cared for them, cherishing every minute. Her enthusiasm and easy laugh were never as evident as when she was entertaining a grandchild. With Grandma you never lost a game nor went without treats! Lynn made friends wherever she went. She showed genuine interest in everyone she encountered. From neighbors and fellow moms to Casino workers and store cashiers, Lynn had a knack for getting-to-know those around her. Though the trials of caring for her ailing husband caused lapses in outings and even conversations, Lynn cherished her friends. Lynn was love embodied. May her love live forever on through the many lives she has touched. Join us in remembering Lynn at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Macomb, MI, on Saturday, January 27. In-state will be at 10:00 AM with a service at 11:00 AM. Following the service will be a luncheon and ice cream social to celebrate Lynn’s life.
