Carole DeRoberts Tribute Carole (DeFino) DeRoberts, 80, of
Southbury, CT was called to her eternal home on Friday October 4, 2024 after a long battle with Dementia. She most recently resided at the Benton House in Newnan, GA.
Carole was born on July 22, 1944 in Yonkers, NY and was a long time resident of both Brookfield and Southbury CT, where she lived in Heritage Village. Carole was preceded in death by her beloved husband John DeRoberts, her parents Frank and Mary (Gurka) Zolchak, her sister Maryann Barnes and her brother, Frank Zolchak.
Carole is survived by her daughter, Sarah DeRoberts Roche (Eric) of Newnan GA, son, Michael DeRoberts of New Milford CT and eight grandchildren ranging in age from 16-10: Johnathan, Benjamin, Jackson, Madeline, Matthew, Emily, Andrew and Nathaniel.
Carole graduated from Gorton High School in Yonkers NY, and went on to study at Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in NYC.
Carole worked for many years in the secretarial field before deciding to stay at home to raise her children. Her husband John passed away in 1984 at which time Carole worked her way up the corporate ladder at IBM Corporation. She worked for many years at IBM before retiring and dedicating her time to serving others.
After retiring from IBM, she worked at TBICO, where she helped women trying to get back on their feet, find jobs. She ran classes to help them hone their skills and outfitted them for interviews. She loved this job and the people she worked with immensely.
She spent her retired years on the board at Heritage Village, where she lived, she was in charge of the womens golf league, she took tap classes, she volunteered and was an active member of Sacred Heart Church. She always had a packed calendar and loved being with and helping others. She also loved her Manhattans!
She loved to travel and she took countless trips with her sister Maryann Barnes and friends.
Carole also had an extreme fondness towards Talbots in Southbury, where they knew her by name. She was always dressed to the nines and always looked completely put together.
Above all, Carole loved spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She would arrive at each visit, with miscellaneous gifts from TJ Maxx (her favorite store, second only to Talbots). She visited often and participated in all the kids' events. She always made sure she dropped off special birthday or holiday surprises making each child feel special and loved.
Carole will be greatly missed. She was tiny but she made a big impact on all who knew her.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15th at the Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main St. S.,
