CLINTON: Caroline B. Keiger, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 2, 2024, after a period of declining health.
She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth L. Tencati of Clinton; nephews, Stephen Tencati & wife Jackie of Clinton, and Allen Tencati, Jr., & wife Rose of Lumberton, NC; grandnieces and grandnephews, Allen Tencati, III & wife Amanda of Lumberton, NC, Briana Oty & husband Chris of Germany, Paige Tencati of Sterling, and Stephen Tencati, Jr., & fiancée Maggie of Clinton; a great-grandnephew, Dante Tencati; and her dear friend, Marge Weihn. She was predeceased by her sister, Lois Keiger, who passed away this past December.
Caroline was born in Clinton, daughter of the late Ernest & Caroline (Neilson) Keiger. She graduated from Clinton High School, Class of 1951. She then went on to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Bates College and earned a Master's Degree in Education from Bridgewater State College.
In 1957, she moved to Blue Point, Long Island, where she taught social studies in the Patchogue-Medford School District for 32 years. She was actively involved in community affairs, including the Pilot Club, and Office of Women's Services for Mercy Center Ministries.
In 1998, Caroline retired and moved back to Clinton, where she continued to be active in many capacities through positions as library trustee, Clinton Home for the Aged (Past President), Clinton Hospital Guild, and election agent for town of Clinton. She was also a member of First Parish of Bolton and Delta Kappa Gamma. She enjoyed going to plays on Broadway, was an avid reader, a world traveler, and loved animals especially cats.
A calling hour will be held from 10 until 11AM, with a funeral service at 11AM, on Friday, February 9, 2024 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Online condolences may be placed at www.philbincomeaufh.com
