Carolyn Von Behren Bouvier

Carolyn Bouvier (1935-2024)
On January 26th, 2024, Carolyn passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a long brave battle with dementia. Heaven surely welcomed a special angel that day. She was born Carolyn Von Behren, on July 28, 1935, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of Ferdinand and Nellie Von Behren. She attended Francis T. Nichols High School in New Orleans, and then Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, graduating with a degree in Art Education. She met the love of her life, Maurice Bouvier, Jr., while at a dance with classmates from the Lutheran Student Center at a restaurant and dance hall near campus and was married on August 24, 1957.
The happy couple had four children, Denise Bouvier, Maurice Bouvier (Melissa) Tom Bouvier (Debbie) and Paul Bouvier. They relocated to Melbourne, Florida in 1979 from Baton Rouge, and then to Rockledge, Florida to a beautiful home on the water where they resided for 31 years.
Carolyn will be remembered as a beautiful soul with a positive outlook, a smile on her face and always ready to give a warm hug to those around her. She was a strong woman of faith and a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, made quilts to be distributed to the needy, and attended art classes, painting and drawing the world around her. She was passionate about the arts, attending many concerts, theatrical performances, and museums around the world. She traveled extensively with Maurice throughout the United States, as well as visiting a dozen countries, having many exciting adventures along the way. She loved to read, care for her plants, follow the space program, care for animals, catch crabs off her dock, and was an amazing cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers John Conrad and Ferdinand Von Behren III. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Maurice Bouvier Jr., as well as her four children. She is also survived by her grandchildren Rebekah (Kevin) Fry, Joanna, Joshua, Rachel, Andrea and Nick Bouvier, her great granddaughter Autumn Fry, as well as her nieces and nephews Fonda (Karl) Bruder, Ferdie Von Behren (Karen), Laurie Dunn, her sister-in-law Sylvia Von Behren and special family friends Blake Jennings (Kelly) and their children Emily, Claire and Charlotte Jennings.
A celebration of life will be held this summer, giving her out-of-town loved ones a chance to attend. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Carolyn's memory.
