Enfield - Cecilia Nadeau died on 01/31/2025 in the care of her family at their camp on Cold Stream Pond.
Cece, as she was known to everyone, was born in Orono, Maine on 3/31/1938 to Amelia and William Spencer. During her childhood, her parents parted ways, and she moved with her mother back to the family home on Pearl St in Bangor. Her mother later met and married Carl Mckusick. Cece came to love him as a father. She enjoyed her high school years at John Bapst playing basketball, donating her time to charitable work, studying seriously and forging inseparable friendships before she graduated in 1956. She had fond memories of her summer working on Isle Au Haut, having great adventures with her best friends living in a tiny cabin on a island off the coast of Maine. After high school, she completed her training at the Eastern Academy of Beauty Culture in 1957. She worked briefly as a beautician at a local shop in Bangor.
Cece met her then future husband, Randy, at the home of a mutual friend. Randy always told the story of their first meeting, when he looked across the room and saw the beautiful girl in the black leather coat. While Cece, ever the pragmatic one, never endorsed "love at first sight," she did acknowledge that she too felt a spark. In time one thing lead to another, and they married on June 28, 1958 in Bangor. As often happens with military life, their marriage began with a bit of travel-Texas, Caribou, Puerto Rico before they finally settled in Dover, NH. Cece, as a military wife, often managed family life alone with their growing family while Randy was away at work. Wherever they were and whatever they did, Randy's great love for her never dimmed. For them, dancing in the living room never grew old. It was common for him to say "Kids, Isn't your mother beautiful?" When it was clear from the look in his eyes that he knew well the answer. When Randy retired early, they enjoyed many years traveling in their camper and summering at Cold Stream. They settled back at "camp" after Randy's health declined, and Cece took care of him during his lengthy illness often hosting family and friends from all over the country as she always had. He passed in May of 2012. Theirs was a beautiful marriage of over 50 years.
Cece loved reading, cooking, and Bingo, and she never turned down a game of Scrabble. She will be remembered most for her kindness, curiosity, and wonderful cooking. Cece never forgot a name or a story, and both friends and strangers alike were always welcome at her table. Her way of making everyone feel loved and nurtured made the long trek down a dirt road in Maine more than worth it.
She leaves behind her 4 children Randy (wife Leisha), Catherine (husband James), Lori, and Julie; 3 Grands Meg (husband Brandon), Alex, and Nicole (husband Michael); 2 great grands Minerva and Blaine ; brother Bill and sister-in-law Nancy, nephews Stan (wife Wendy) and Billy Cowan
Cece loved dearly and was dearly love. She will be missed.
A mass will be celebrated Saturday Feb. 8th at 10am at St Leo's Howland Me (River Rd).
