Born a proud Virginian, Chadwick B. "Chad" Hilton was a loyal graduate of the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and his blood truly ran Carolina blue. Lettering in Fencing all four years, 1971-1975, he was ACC champion his Senior year.
Chad received his master's degree at NC State University and his doctorate at the University of Tennessee where he met the love of his life Jane Stanfield. Chad went on to a 30-year career at the University of Alabama as a professor and Associate Dean for International Development, teaching in both the university MBA and executive MBA programs as well as at universities in France and the Middle East.
Often leading MBA courses abroad, Chad had only two rules: Don't embarrass me and don't be late for the bus!
Chad's interests were wide ranging-from reading to sumo wrestling. A lifelong learner and lover of life and language, Chad was an accomplished muscian, often sharing his guitar solos on Facebook. Also, a talented artist, his whimiscal paintings graced fences of friends and his kitchen godesses adorn many a cabinet. Chad could turn a closet door into a work of art. His skills as a master mixologist were often shared with appreciative friends.
TAR HEELS, WOLFPACK, VOLS, ROLL TIDE! Needless to say, Chad was deeply conflicted during football season and a variety of university flags flew over the house on football weekends. However, during basketball season the UNC flag proudly flew alone.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
And the days are not full enough
And the nights are not full enough
And life slips by like a field mouse
Not shaking the grass
