Christine Jackson Knight, 78, of Burlison, passed away on Saturday, October 19 after a brief illness.
Christine worked at Baptist Hospital Tipton as an LPN, retiring 20 years ago after spending 20 years there. She, along with her husband Larry, founded Knight Racing in 1968. They ran the team together until 1986, when Larry retired from driving. Their sons took over the team with Larry and Christine as trusted supporters and mentors. The family racing team later grew to include Larry and Christine’s grandsons. Christine was a member of the Crossway Cowboy Church in Brighton.
She loved her boys, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved them all unconditionally and was the one that kept everyone in the family on the right path. She always made sure her family was well taken care of and well fed.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert Alan (Jimmie Kaye) Knight and Steven Knight; five grandchildren, Brandi (Drew) Laxton, Toni Knight, Dillon (Beth) Knight, Haeli Knight and Cody Knight; six great grandchildren, Sawyer Laxton, Porter Laxton, Briar Laxton, Weston Knight, Greyson Knight and Olivia Knight; three sisters, Faye Alsbrook, Gail Mathews and Pam (Danny) Cromwell and one brother, Richard Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marie Lewis Jackson; her husband, Larry Knight and two sisters, Betty Shahan and Barbara Swords.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 26 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon at the funeral home on Saturday.
