Constance "Connie" Riley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the age of 87. She was lovingly cared for by her son Garrett and daughter-in-law Natalie at their home in North Scottsdale, Arizona.
Connie was born on August 4, 1938, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to Michael and Josephine Moscynski. After graduating from Wyandotte High School, she began her professional life at Pennsalt Chemicals. Connie was an expert typist and stenographer, and later worked in various administrative roles, including a position at the Town of Fountain Hills in Arizona. But her greatest devotion was always to her family. Connie spent most of her adult life as a stay-at-home mom, raising her four sons with warmth, patience, humor, and an unwavering love that shaped each of their lives.
For more than 61 years, Connie was the cherished wife of John A. Riley, who preceded her in death in February 2023. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and community- in Brighton, Michigan, Madison, Wisconsin and finally, Fountain Hills, Arizona. After John's passing, Connie found comfort and care surrounded by Garrett and Natalie's family, where she remained until her final day.
A devout Catholic, Connie's faith in Jesus Christ was her steady foundation and guiding light. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and quiet strength. Connie was active in her small church faith group, women's Bible study and caregiving ministries- Volunteer Interfaith Caregiver Program (VICap), and The Society of St. Vincent de Paul at her parish, Church of the Ascension in Fountain Hills, AZ. Over the years, she enjoyed traveling, bowling, and golfing, and she took special joy in cheering on her sons and grandchildren at their many games, meets, and matches. Her gentle spirit and boundless love touched everyone who knew her.
Connie faced life's challenges, including more than two decades battling breast and colon cancer, with remarkable grace and courage. Even though she suffered from relentless pain, Connie never complained, always choosing to focus on others and finding joy in the everyday moments.
She is survived by her four sons and their wives: Garrett and Natalie (Smith) Riley of Scottsdale, Arizona; Kevin and Kelly (Stroshein) Riley of Brighton, Michigan; Brian and Deb Riley of Alexandria, Virginia; and John and Lili Riley of Florence, Arizona. She was a proud grandmother to Heather Riley (Bowman), Abbey Riley, Lizzy Riley, Connor Riley, Sarah Riley, Ethan Riley, Tucker Riley, Morela Riley, Kellen Riley and her step-grandchildren Zach Zukowski, Alex Zukowski, and Katie Zukowski. She is also survived by her brothers, Ted and Michael Moscynski, and was preceded in death by her sister and lifelong best friend, Joan Davis.
Connie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, perseverance, and unshakable love for her family. Her life was one of quiet strength, deep devotion, and joy in simple things. Her legacy will live on through those who loved her most.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Scottsdale on December 15, 2025, at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to in loving memory of Connie Riley to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
