Daniel Lee Johnson, 53, of Laingsburg, passed away at Sparrow Hospital on Saturday, March 25, 2023. A funeral service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 203 E. First North St., Laingsburg, MI 48848. The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 PM and 6-8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the funeral home as well as one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Dan was born on March 29, 1969, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Kenneth and Janice Johnson. He graduated from Grand Ledge High School in the class of 1987 and continued at Western Michigan University earning a degree in Business and was a member of the Delta-Chi Fraternity. Dan had a successful 30 year Sales career mainly in Dental Equipment Industry.. Dan was very outgoing and social; with his great smile and dimples he could light up any room. He could talk to anyone and had a wonderful dry sense of humor that could make anyone smile and laugh. He loved Spartan Football and Basketball and followed a lot of the local sports scenes. He loved watching his nephews play High School and College Football, he knew all sports stats and was a walking sports Encyclopedia. An avid golfer, Dan was enjoying teaching his daughter how to Golf, even though she was a lefty! He was a true Michiganian, he loved all the seasons and enjoying all the things our great state has to offer. Dan loved spending time with friends and family at the Crooked Lake Cottage in Petoskey, boating and socializing with friends on Scenic Lake, snowmobiling and many ski trips. His enjoyment of yard projects kept him busy around the house he loved mowing and keeping an impeccable lawn. He even teased the neighborhood kids about not walking on it! Lastly, Dan loved a good road trip, including the many fun filled trips to Las Vegas, the Caribbean, Dallas and many other fantastic vacations spent with his Friends and Family.
Dan is survived by his wife of 20 years Anna, their daughter Kendall, his parents, Kenneth and Janice Johnson, his sister, Sue (Brian) Lamb, his brother, Paul (Daphne) Johnson, and his nephews, Brett and Ryan Lamb. His Inlaws, Art and Deborah Garner, brother inlaw, Ryan Kloack, and his nieces, Sylvia and Tru Kloack. Also left to cherish his memory are his dearest friends: Jason and Katherine Cords, Todd Harter, Tracy Bennett, Chris and Sandra Kazor, Marcus, Katie Conway, and Stephanie Pahl, Tim Deary, Tanya Johnson, Kevin Mackey, John and Melissa Duke and so many others.
"Life is Short, get off the highway and take the scenic route every once in a while" - Dan Johnson. Truer words could not be said. You are so loved and will be missed.
