On March 28, 2024, the beautiful soul of Dr. Daniel Anthony Nealon was released to God. Dan was born 9/4/1935 in Dayton Ohio to Helen and Joe Nealon. Dan attended Chaminade High School where he was an honor student and all city football player. Contrary to popular myth, Dan did not attend the University of Notre Dame but the University of Dayton. He then attended the University of St. Louis Medical School where he met the love of his life, a beautiful nurse, MJ. They were married after graduation and began their life in Los Angles where they had two children, Madonna and Kelly. They then moved to New Orleans, where he did a fellowship in Tropical Medicine at Tulane University. They survived hurricane Betsy and had a son, Sean. They then moved to Washington DC, where Dan served at Walter Reed Army Hospital. There they added another daughter, Bridget, to the family. He was drafted to the US Army and served in Germany from 1965-1969 as an army physician. He attained the rank of Lt. Colonel. After his military service, he moved his family to Woodland California and began his practice of 40 plus years as Woodland's favorite pediatrician. The family added their youngest daughter, Colleen while living in Woodland. Dan was an avid sportsman who enjoyed skiing (water and snow), Golf, softball, and Tennis. Many remember him riding to work on his bicycle often with no hands on the handlebars. He had many hobbies including reading, poker, photography, gardening, fishing and on occasional pool hustle. He was a diehard Notre Dame fan attending many games in South Bend. Dan had a love for travel and his Irish Heritage. Dan and MJ visited every continent, all 50 states and many countries returning often to the "Old Sod" of Ireland. He made new friends easily wherever he went with his great sense of humor, his easy laugh, and the twinkle in his eye. Dan was preceded in death by his youngest daughter Colleen. He is survived by his wife of 63 years MJ, his daughters Madonna, Kelly and Bridget and son Sean and his Norfolk terrier TR (Teddy Roosevelt) He has 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
