Danny Carroll Prater

KENNEDALE - Danny C. Prater, 84, went to be with our Lord, Sunday Jan. 29. 2023, in Arlington peacefully in his sleep after a long illness.
Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood.
Danny was born Jan. 12, 1939, in Mead, Okla. He was a discharged U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant, serving our country from 1958-1966 in Korea, the Philippines, and on Wake Island before returning to the states. Dan was a hard worker, owning his own air conditioning, heating and refrigeration business until he retired at 65. He then went to work at Harris HEB hospital in the same capacity until fully retiring at 75 years old.
Danny was a strong silent, old school country boy, not a fancy dresser, preferring his Dickies jumpsuits to a tie any day of the week, tough as nails "man's man" with a ready smile and a firm handshake. Didn't complain, provided for his family, and became a real softie in his golden years.
Danny was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Peggy (McGregor) Prater; his parents, Oakley Nelson Prater and Lillian Gladys (Ford) Prater.
Survivors: Children, Tammy (Prater) DeViney and husband, Mark, Scott Prater and wife, Susan and Sharon Boyd; grandchildren, Alexander DeViney and wife, Hayli, Adam DeViney and fiance, Tandy, Rainey Prater and fiance, Andy, Miranda Prater, Blake Watson and wife, Allison; great-grandchildren, Ava DeViney, Olivia Watson, Deagan Watson and Harrison Watson; sister, Patricia Ann Cropper of Oklahoma; numerous other nieces, nephews and family friends.
