Darlene L. Rose, age 66, of Johnstown, NY, passed away comfortably & peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. Darlene was born December 15, 1956, in Gloversville to the late Donald and RoseMarie Rubscha.
Darlene graduated from Mayfield Central High School in 1975. She studied at Sage JCA and completed her undergraduate degree and masters at Suny Albany in social work.
Darlene loved helping people. This is evident in the jobs she chose; some of these included Carver House in Schenectady, Catholic charities, Family counseling Center in Gloversville. Her most recent employment was counselor for the New York State Department of Labor. She was also a hotline Crisis counselor for many years. Of all these "helping positions" her most loved and passionate position was her social work at Northville Central School. She strongly advocated for her students, many of whom she kept in touch with her throughout her life. While there she worked tirelessly to prevent bulling and founded a young girl's support group "New Moon".
Darlene is survived by Allan, her husband of 31 years, their son, Evan, Allan's son, Tom (Charlotte) and granddaughter Emily.
She is survived by two sisters, Nancy (Dan), Chanda (Roger) and Donald (Lynne), many nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her very much. As important as her love and outreach was, she acted as a mother and friend to many and will be greatly missed by all.
A Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, July 9, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1 N Market St, Johnstown, NY 12095.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday July 10, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the church.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Johns Episcopal church or charity of your choice in Darlene's memory, thank you.

While I never had the pleasure of meeting Darlene, I grew up with Allan. He and I and John and Ziggy would walk to school together before any of us got our licenses to drive. My deepest condolences to the family and my school buddy and keep her memory alive in your heart.
