David Ross Bergman, 84, passed away in Scottsdale, AZ on February 15, 2024 with his loving wife by his side. Dave was born on September 7, 1939 to Mary and Ross Bergman. Dave lived his entire life in Aurora, IL but spent several months of the year in Arizona after his retirement.
Dave attended West Aurora High School and then went on to receive a Bachelor's degree from Bradley University where he was a proud member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. After college, Dave came back to Aurora to work for his father's toy company, Processed Plastics. In 1969, he married Helen Bourtzos and the two were married for 54 years. Together they had three sons Ross, James, and Peter.
Dave became president of Moldrite in 1962 and then of Processed Plastics in 1993. He was an active member of the Aurora community. He served on the boards of Old Second National Bank and Aurora University and was a member of the Aurora Exchange Club. Dave had also been an active member of the Aurora Country Club since 1973. He was one of the club's longest standing members.
Dave had many hobbies. He was a car enthusiast and appreciated many different types of cars, old and new, but the Corvette was his favorite. He even attended a Corvette driver- training program just a year ago. Dave loved to golf and fish. He planned some very special fishing trips with his sons and grandsons. In his earlier years, Dave obtained his pilot's license and flew recreationally. Dave also enjoyed spending time with his family in South Haven, Michigan where they made many priceless memories.
Dave's love of people, travel, and his positive outlook will be missed dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents Mary (Ochsenschlager) and Ross Bergman and his sister-in-law Patricia. He is survived by his wife, Helen Bergman; his sons, Ross, James (Marie), and Peter (Somya); his grandchildren, Ethan, Mia, Evan, Ella, Sammy, Michael, and Marina; his brother, Robert; and several nieces and nephews.
Services for David will be held privately with his loving family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to The Daleiden Mortuary, Aurora. (https://www.daleidenmortuary.com/).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dave's memory to the donor's choice.
