David Michael Ionno, 74, of Hartford, passed before his time on October 9, 2025. He was born February 15, 1951, in Washington D.C., the son of the late Dr. Joseph and Julie (Soltis) Ionno. David graduated from Lakes High School, Class of 1969. He married his high school sweetheart, Frances (Veillette) Ionno, on March 14, 1970, and recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. David served in the Vietnam War as a Medic from 1970-1971. He worked 10 years at Heublein Factory while completing his Bachelor of Arts in History from Central Connecticut State University. He served 25 years as an Assistant Librarian for Hartford Public Libraries and was President of their Union. David was an avid reader, weightlifter, activist, Green Party member and advocate for Veterans for Peace.
David is survived by his wife, Frances; daughters, Sabra, Renee (Jen), Cassandra, and Linnea Ionno; grandchildren, Leonidas (Ionno) Rolon and Ryland Ionno; siblings, Mark (Joan) Ionno, Matthew Ionno, and Julie Ionno; nephews, Luke and Peter Ionno; niece, Mary Kim Spencer; aunts, Mary Jane Soltis and Joan Soltis; cousins, Dawn, Yvette, Leah, George II, and Tanya; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joe (Shana) Veillette, Bea (Jarmel) Ingram, Alfred III (Danielle) Veillette; nieces-in-law, Desiree Ingram and Daria (Adam) Bianchessi; nephews-in-law, Tony Mezias, Mario Mezias, Jarmel Ingram and Evan Avara; great-niece, Miara Mezias; and great-nephews, Jordan Mezias and Tony II Mezias. In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by his brother, Joseph Ionno, II and sister-in-law, Alice Mezias.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 18, from 12pm-3pm at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, CT.

David always spoke out for what was right and advocated for the people. Family was his greatest joy, and he built a home of unconditional love and support. My best to Francis and the family with the passing of David. He was my first mentor at Veterans For Peace Connecticut Chapter. He taught me alot about looking at the world's addiction to war in a nonviolent way. Our chapter continues to be active with the spirit and heart of Dave close behind.
