David R. Stewart, 84, of New Cumberland, Born December 27, 1940 in Jersey City, NJ, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Phyllis (Gensler) Stewart; his 2 sons, Michael and wife Kay, of Mechanicsburg, and James of Carlisle; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, and Andrew; four great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Anjie.
David was an "Army Brat" who grew up in various cities from New York to San Francisco and overseas bases including Guam and Okinawa. He graduated from Carlisle High School in 1959 and enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve 3 years, including a tour in South Korea.
David was employed by and retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot. He then started a second career as an Office Manager at St. Theresa Catholic Church in New Cumberland for 10 years.
After his second retirement, he started his third career as an author. David wrote and published 9 historical novels based on a fictional family named Doyle.
A committal service with Army Honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a time to be determined.
