He was preceded by a very dear cousin, Justin Laird, who was as close as a brother to Derick; his grandparents, Donna and Ervin Potts; and uncle, David Laird.
Survivors include his mother, Barbara (Laird) Parsons; father, Eugene Parsons; daughters, Brea Parsons (and her boyfriend, Dion Cundiff Jr.) and Emma Evans; granddaughter, A'Zoria Dream; a sister, Kelly (Michael) Hatcher; nephew, Sy (Autumn) Hatcher and niece, Kya Hatcher; great nephew, Kayden Hatcher; uncle, Don Laird; aunt, Gail Laird; cousins, Jeremy (Jessica) Laird, Jason Laird and Julia (Elton) Smith and his girlfriend, Tiana Johnson; many friends and his rescued cat, Pedro.
Cremation is taking place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
