Derrick Wayne Williams Sr, 47, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on June 24, 2005, surrounded by his loved ones in the city where he was born and raised.
Born on June 18, 1978, in Fort Worth, Derrick was a proud graduate of Kennedale High School, class of 1997, where he made his mark as a football star. Known for his strength, determination, and natural leadership, Derrick carried those qualities into adulthood. He built a long and successful career in the oilfield, earning the respect of his peers as a dedicated and hardworking man.
Derrick was a proud and loving father to his son Derrick Williams Jr., and a devoted father figure to his stepchildren: Kurstie, Kaleigh, Anthony, and Jordyn. He shared his life with his longtime love Stacy. Who remained faithfully by his side through every chapter of his life.
A true mentor Derrick took great pride in guiding and supporting the young men in his family and community. His influence extended far beyond his home- he was a source of strength, wisdom, and inspiration for many. Known for his magnetic personality, infectious laugh, and a smile that could light up any room, Derrick had a way of making everyone feel welcome and seen.
Derrick was proceeded in death by his beloved mother Deborah Williams, and father Bobby Williams Sr. He is survived by his only brother Bobby Williams Jr.; his only son Derrick Williams Jr.; his partner in life Stacy; his stepchildren Kurstie, Kaleigh, Anthony and Jordyn; and 6 step grandchildren.
He also leaves behind 2 very beloved aunts; Flo McDonald and Anita Lewechi; along with many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephew, and extended family members – each whom he loved so very much.
Derrick’s life was a shining example of love, resilience, and generosity. Though he will be missed, the impact of his spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to have known him.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 9th at 10 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, followed by a burial at Cedar Hill Memorial Park. All who knew and loved Derrick are welcome to attend.
