Dianne Cable Greene, age 74, of Waynesville, NC, passed away on December 1, 2023 after a short illness.

Dianne was born on February 5, 1949 to the late Charles and Javena Cable in Waynesville, NC. She graduated from Pisgah High School in 1967. She went on to study art and art history, receiving a B.A. degree from UNC-Asheville, an M.F.A. degree from the University of Georgia, and an M.A. degree from the University of Richmond.

Dianne was a large, loving soul. She had a deep love and reverence for nature and animals. She was respected and renowned for her prolific output of art, having displayed her work in many galleries and collections. She was irrepressibly upbeat, positive, and a close friend to many.

Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Javena Cable. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Michael Greene; brothers, Grover (Nancy) and Ed Cable; and sister, Sandra Hanes. She is also survived by niece, Anna Cable and nephews, Ian Cable, Andrew Cable, Kevin Cable and Chris Cable.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dan Page officiating.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

The care of Mrs. Greene has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
