Donald "Don" O. Nase, 78, of Sellersville, PA went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Gran View Hospital.
Don was born to the late Harry M. Nase and the late Nora E. (Samsel) Nase in 1945. He was born in Sellersville and grew up in Souderton. In 1963, He graduated from the Souderton Area High School which is where he met his wife, Dianne Marie (Beardsley) Nase. Having married in 1967, they spent over 56 years together. During that time, their love and their family grew as they raised three girls and eventually welcomed three sons-in-law, 8 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Don was very proud to have served as a Line Captain on the U.S.S. Enterprise, the first nuclear powered aircraft carrier in the United States Navy, during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1967. Later, he built a career in construction as a construction superintendent. He worked with several companies over the years, including Lisbon in Danboro, PA, Trinity Paving Company in Conshohocken, PA, S&H Landscaping in Chalfont, PA, and for Marino Corporation in Skippack, PA.
As a young man, Don volunteered with the Perkasie Fire Company. He dedicated much of his time to his church; first at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Perkasie and then later at Immanuel Leidy's Church in Souderton. For over 40 years, he served as a Sunday School Teacher. In addition, he served on Consistory at St Andrews. At Immanuel Leidy's Church, he was active as a small group leader, a shepherd, and an elder. By serving others, he served the Lord and could often be seen volunteering at God's Treasure House in Souderton, PA.
Don loved to spend time with his family, watching his grandchildren play. He shared his love of the outdoors with his family. Don loved to be out by the water - boating, swimming, fishing - and seemed to enjoy them most when he did these things together with his family. He also looked forward to going to Florida where he would golf, fish and ride his bike. Don also enjoyed gardening as well as home projects and was well-known for his attention to detail and craftsmanship. As a Civil War enthusiast, he could often be found reading non-fiction or watching a documentary.
Don was a man of God. His family is proud of the hardworking and generous man they knew him to be. He enjoyed life. He loved people and making them smile, especially his wife and family.
In addition to his wife, Dianne, he is survived by his three daughters, Amy Nase Frank & husband, Neil of Perkiomenville, PA, Holly Ann Weideman & husband, Greg of Sellersville, PA, Carrie Beth Nase-Poust & husband, Kevin of Chalfont, PA; his eight grandchildren – Maggie Lucci, & husband, Nick, Jonas Frank, Eva Frank, Jude Weideman, Marley Weideman, Clayton Frank, Logan Poust, & Nora Poust; his great-grandson, Oswin "Ozzy" Lucci; and his two sisters, Elaine Spangenburg of Ocala, FL and Ruth Newcomb of Barefoot Bay, FL.
