Donna M. Leiby Gehringer, 67, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 in Pottsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born in Valley Forge, she was the daughter of the late Leroy C. Leiby and Arlene A. (Werley) Leiby. Donna was a 1974 graduate of Tulpehocken High School and also graduated from Lehigh Community College with a degree in occupational therapy.
She worked as a nurse's aide at Berks Heim. While in high school, Donna was a member of the marching band and chorus; the library and L.I.F.E. clubs; and a member of the tennis team. In her younger years, she was a member of Bern Lutheran Church, singing in the choir. She was also in the Brownies, Girl Scouts, and 4-H. She played the piano and clarinet and was an avid reader. Donna enjoyed riding motorcycle and attending the Club rides.
Donna is survived by her siblings: Kim K. Leiby-Smith, Gastonia, North Carolina; and Lynn L. Leiby, husband of Casie, Texas; half-brother: Jeffrey Leiby; three nephews: Tyler Smith, husband of Marissa; Ryan Leiby and Matthew Leiby; one niece: Sarah Leiby; and a great-niece: Giuliana Smith.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 10:30 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Fairview (Belleman's) Cemetery, Centre Twp. A visitation with the family will be held in the funeral
home Wednesday 10:00 to 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport, PA 19533 to assist the family with final expenses.
