Donnis Smith Allen, age 85 of Mooresboro, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
She is survived by her children, Teresa McCurry of Mooresboro, NC, Scott McCurry and wife Brenda of Mooresboro, NC, Donna McCurry Metcalf of Mooresboro, NC, and Vickie Allen Richards of Shelby, NC, five grandchildren, Dean McCurry and wife Lorie of Gaffney, SC, Dawn Flowers and husband Jeremy of Gastonia, NC, Jeffery McCurry and wife Beth of Mooresboro, NC, Corbett Richards and wife Natasha of Shelby, NC, and Adam Richards and wife Amanda of Shelby, NC, five great grandchildren, Gage Swink, Chancey McCurry, Bailey Richards, Hayden Richards, and Addison Richards, two brothers, Billy Smith of Gaffney, SC, and Freddie Smith of Bostic, NC, a sister, Revonda Humphries of Shelby, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Bobby Darrell Smith.
Born May 11, 1940, in Rutherford County, NC, Donnis was the daughter of the late James Yates Smith and Bertha Inez Wright Smith and was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Thomas Allen, a son, Jeffery Dale McCurry, and her siblings, Henry, Jimmy, Johnny, Bobby, Don, Frances, and Debra.
Donnis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a faithful member of Goodes Grove Baptist Church where she enjoyed catering for others. Donnis enjoyed bird watching, working puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends.
A graveside service will be 4:00pm Friday, May 16, 2025, at Sandy Run Baptist Church in Mooresboro conducted by Rev. Robbie Hensley. An informal visitation/viewing will be held from 11:00am – 1:00pm, Friday, May 16, 2025, at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel.
The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the staff of Wendover Hospice for the loving care they gave Donnis during her stay.
