Dwyane Trahan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Boyd Family Funeral Home on Dec. 30, 2025.
Dwayne Trahan, Sr., 64, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, was born on November 15, 1961, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the proud parents Leonard Trahan and Rosalie Stewart Trahan. A longtime resident of Hahnville, Louisiana, Dwayne transitioned peacefully from this earthly life and entered the Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, December 18, 2025. Dwayne was baptized on September 17, 1972, at Greater New Salem Baptist Church, where his faith was nurtured and remained an important part of his life. He was well known and highly respected in the trucking industry throughout Houma, New Orleans, and surrounding communities, where his strong work ethic and dedication were evident to all who worked alongside him. During his youth, Dwayne was an accomplished and well-respected basketball player at South Terrebonne High School, Bourg, Louisiana, where he played center. His talent and leadership on the court earned him recognition by the Houma Daily Courier as Terrebonne Parish's Most Valuable Player. He was even dubbed "Chairman of the Board" for his dominance on the court. He was also nominated as Knights of Columbus February Male Athlete of the Month and scored an impressive 512 points and 500 rebounds in a single season-achievements that reflected both his athletic ability and determination. Dwayne's beautiful life will be cherished by his family. He is survived by his parents Leonard Trahan and Rosalie Stewart Trahan; devoted wife, Judy O'Connor-Trahan; his children, Dwayne Trahan, Jr. (Shelby); Brittany Packer Rouse (Richard) of Anna, Texas; Chad Packer of Dallas, Texas; Connor Trahan (Stella), Jordan Trahan (Emma); Ashli O'Connor, and Dr. Kelli O'Connor; one brother, Bryan Trahan (Sharon); three sisters: Sharon Trahan George (Lorin) of Sugar Land, Texas; Kimberly Trahan; and Shawn Trahan Taylor (Michael) of Houston, Texas; his grandchildren, Reyannah Rouse, Dominic Poche', Leilani Trahan, and Ezra Barnes; two nieces, Chanta Trahan and Terez Turner; one nephew, Bryan Trahan, Jr.; one great niece, Serenity Trahan; and a host of relatives and friends who loved him dearly. Dwayne was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry Leonce Trahan and Lillian Stewart Trahan, and Rose Mae McKinley and James Curtis Wallace. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Greater New Salem Baptist Church, 818 Lafayette Street, Houma, Louisiana, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with funeral services immediately following. Burial will take place at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2 in Houma, Louisiana. Guestbook Online: www.anewtraditionbegins.com (504)282-0600. Linear Brooks Boyd and Donavin D.
