Elizabeth L. (Cutter) Capaldo, "Betty", age 90, of Billerica, MA, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, with her loving family at her side.
Betty was born on June 29, 1934, in Wilmington, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Harry J. Cutter and Elizabeth (Gracie) Cutter. Betty was one of three sisters who were raised in a loving home in Wilmington; she attended Wilmington Schools and was a graduate of Wilmington High School.
Betty married the "love of her life" Louis J. Capaldo Jr. "Biffie" on July 4,1954; the couple shared over 70 amazing years together, raised a beautiful family, and made countless wonderful memories to be shared for generations to come.
Betty was a hard worker; for many years she was a cafeteria aid for the Ditson Elementary School in Billerica. Betty was very kind and gentle to the children; her endearing personality made her a favorite among the students as well as the faculty at the school.
Betty had a joyous smile that would light up any room. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Betty devoted her life to her family, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was affectionately known as "Ma" to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She spent most of her days knitting, crocheting, playing cards, completing word searches, and playing Bingo at the Billerica Elks.
Betty enjoyed summers at Hampton Beach with Marlene, Frankie, Sharon, Peggy, Ann, and Booker. Betty looked forward to her yearly trips to Sanibel Island with her husband Biffie, and her friends Sammy and Rosemarie. She spent many summers camping at Beach Acres in Wells, Maine where she met many friends along the way. She enjoyed sitting by the campfire, going to the beach and pool, leading the bicycle parade, helping with raffles, and participating in many potlucks.
Betty enjoyed having coffee with friends at Auntie Patsy's house. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her husband of 70 years, as well as her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family meant the world to her, and she loved every moment spent with them. Our "Ma" was greatly loved, will be deeply missed, and will live forever in our hearts.
Betty was the beloved wife of Louis J. Capaldo, Jr. of Billerica, devoted mother of Linda A. Ransom and her late husband Bruce J. Ransom of Billerica, MA, Cheryl A. Wesinger and her late husband Gene F. Wesinger Jr. of Billerica, MA, and Steven J. Capaldo and his wife Mary J. Capaldo of Raymond, NH. Loving "Ma" to her grandchildren Lyn-Marie Dubois and husband Billy of Dracut, MA, Kathleen Souza and husband Jimmy of Billerica, MA, Colby Ransom of Billerica, MA, Christopher Wesinger and wife Theresa of Weymouth, MA, Andrew Wesinger and wife Yansi of Billerica, MA, Stacie Wesinger Caira and husband Kevin of Billerica, MA, Steven Capaldo Jr. and fiancé Kati of Tewksbury, MA, Robert Capaldo and fiancé Gianna of Billerica, MA, and great-grandchildren Kylee, Aaron, William III, Bryn-Marie, Rylen, Milo, Gene, Leah, Scotty, Cody, Genevieve, Vienna, and Tessa. Dear sister of Ruth Ann Dragon of Maine and the late Marion S. Trites and her late husband James N. Trites, daughter-in-law of the late Mabel E. (White) Melanson. Betty also leaves behind her Goddaughters Patti Valente Lloyd and Dawna Williamson, her Godson Paul Trites, as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Wednesday, May 21st from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. A Service for Betty will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, May 22nd at 10:30 a.m. followed by her interment at Wildwood Cemetery in Wilmington, MA.
