Elizabeth J. Zahab passed away peacefully at the end, on April 18, 2025 in Toledo, Ohio, at the age of 98.
Born on February 22, 1927 in Akron Ohio, she attended Akron Central High School and soon was employed at Ohio Bell Telephone as a switch-board operator and enjoyed singing in the Ohio Bell Telephone choir. She married Elie Zahab in 1955 and after raising five diverse children eventually went to work with her husband at The Golden Door Restaurant. Devoted to her family, church and community she was an active member of the Kirby Club and in later years in her senior apartment complex enjoyed arranging various travelling and casino adventures.
Her devotion to family and friends was expressed by a kind and generous nature full of love and acceptance. Her effervescent humor brightened any room she walked into and she was very deeply attached to her family, friends, and their friends’ friends.
Later in life she moved from Akron to Perrysburg, Ohio where her daughter Rozanne and family surrounded her with love and a perfect hive of activity.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Lamia Rodgers, sisters Rose and Josephine, brothers Joseph and John, husband Elie and son Mark.
She had the beautiful capacity to love others as if they were her children or grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Roger Zahab and spouse Robert Frankenberry, Michael Zahab, Jeff Zahab, Rozanne Zahab and spouse Joseph Stepnick, Paul Wise, and grandchildren Mark (Brenda) Deacon Zahab, Emerson Zahab, Samia Stepnick, Marhamat Pahlavonova, Ibrahim Yassin and Safaa Darwish, Bassel Aldroubi, Gabriella and Antonio Noguez and great grandchild on the way baby Yasin-Darwish, and special friends the Chalfin and Gosses Families.
The visitation (from 10 AM- 12 noon) and funeral (beginning at 12 noon) will be held Saturday April 26th at St Joseph’s Melkite Church, 927 North Portage Path, Akron Ohio 44303, with a Celebration Meal following at The Event Center, 2208 E Market St, Akron, 44312.
