Ethel Marie (Parsons) Curtin, age 90, of Tuscaloosa, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Hospice of West Alabama. Funeral services will be at 2:00 on Tuesday, July 9, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. David Watson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, with interment at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Baylous and Annie Parsons; sisters Hazel Hannah (Melvin), Gladys Barger (J. T.), and Bertha Mae Harmon.
Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Oscar Dave Curtin Jr.; children Debbie Khalil (Sami), Greg Curtin (Joung Ju), Steve Curtin (Patti), and Janet Foster (John); grandchildren Chris Bush, Brandi Sanders (Jarrod), Derek Dunn, Tiffany Dunn, Tiffany Smith (Robert), Dustin Curtin, Stephanie Richardson (Jack), and Victoria Foster Box (Aaron); ten great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Ethel was born in Searles, Alabama and a 1953 graduate of Brookwood High School. She was part- owner of several businesses. She started singing and playing piano at an early age and played for several churches for over 40 years. She and Oscar traveled for many years across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. She loved flowers and took pride in her beautiful yard. She enjoyed riding her golf cart visiting neighbors and spending time with family.
Pallbearers will be Chris Bush, Jarrod Sanders, Derek Dunn, Dustin Curtin, Jack Richardson, and Kelvin Little.
Honorary pallbearers are residents of Lakeridge Avenue, employees of Warrior Precision Machine Shop and Crowning Glory Beauty Shop, Becky and Jim Arbogast, Marilyn Foster, Faye Gwin, Rusty and Kaye Dunlap, and Russ Dunlap.
The family wishes to thank Dr. John Warren, Hospice of West Alabama, Complete Nursing, Morning Point Assisted Living, and Heritage Rehabilitation.
