Eugene “Gene” R. Markowski, 79, of Brunswick, passed away on February 13, 2025, after a short illness. He was born on April 1, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Adam and Mildred Markowski.
Gene lived a life full of love, family and friends, with his beloved wife Kay of over 44 years. If you knew Gene, you knew Kay. Gene was a US Army Veteran, a systems analyst and IT guy, and a member of the Brunswick Eagles and Saint Ambrose Church.
Gene will be forever remembered for his sense of humor. He loved making people laugh.
In his retirement, Gene loved spending time with his family, family travel, and playing the sports he enjoyed including bowling, fishing and golfing. He always said every day was Saturday after retiring!
Gene will be deeply missed by his loving wife and best friend Kay (nee Miller); his children, Monique (David) Zubek and Jeanine Markowski; his grandchildren Alex (Courtney) Zubek, Drew Zubek and Grayson Markowski; his sisters Jackie (Sam) Salem and Sue (Michael, dec) Lasker; his brother-in-law Mike (Cheryl) Novak; his nieces and nephews Jennifer (Kevin) Haessly, Scott (Ashlee) Novak, Missy Miller, Stacie Price, Tina (Cameron, dec.) Roberts, Darla (Greg) Hoffman, Amber Lasker, Tim (Robin) Salem, Bob (Laurie) Salem, Matt (Christa) Lasker; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law Rose Miller McNoldy; in-laws Karl and Mary Anderson, Tom Miller, Bob “Pork” Miller; and grandson Chad Zubek.
Gene’s memory will be honored Monday, February 17, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, Brunswick, OH 44212. Another visitation will occur Tuesday, February 18, 2025, 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m., at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 929 Pearl Rd., Brunswick, OH 44212. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at the church at 10:00 a.m., with Fr. Bob Stec officiating.
