Fred was born on 13 July 1948 in Wadsworth to the late Robert and Madge (Raff) Freed.
He graduated from Rittman High School in 1966, where he was class president for 3 of 4 years and the University of Akron in 1969, with Bachelor of Science in Accounting with honors. Mr. Freed worked as an electrician for Bauders Electric, served as Wayne County Electrical Inspector, Saks Electric of Akron, and most recently as a Broker/Co-owner at The Milton Corp. real estate in Rittman.
Fred married Alberta Marks in 1972 and they were married for 51 years, living in Rittman, Marshallville, and Orrville, until her death on July 27, 2023.
Fred loved his family more than anything. They all think the world of him, and his death has left a huge hole in their hearts.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Dorothy Freed; and great-nephew, Alec Leatherman.
Fred leaves behind his sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Gary Leatherman of Rittman; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Pamela (McComas) Freed of Wichita, KS; stepsister, Brenda Garman of Copley; nephews, Brian and Kevin (Melanie) Leatherman, both of Rittman; Adam Freed of Rose Hill, KS, and Seth (Brittany) Freed of Oahu, Hawaii; great-nieces and nephews, Brianna Leatherman of Cleveland, Kendall, Peyton and Garrett Leatherman of Rittman, Isaac and Cameron Freed of Oahu, Hawaii, and Sophia Freed of Rose Hill, KS; as well as, many close cousins.
Fred left this world on March 25, 2024.
There will be no calling hours and a private family burial service will take place at Rittman Cemetery.
