Gary Wichert Obituary

Gary was in the Buhler High School graduating class of 1973. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher, and also a skilled carpenter. He was a member of the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church.
Gary married Bonnie Sue Willems on September 16, 1978 in Inman, Kansas at Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church. She survives of their home.
Other survivors include: sons, Eric (Megan) Wichert of Wichita and Brent (Cindy) Wichert of Buhler; daughter, Estelle Wichert of Wichita; 8 grandchildren; sisters, Pearl (Jim) Wassenaar of Prinsburg, Minnesota, Dorothy (Merlin) Nightingale of Enid, Oklahoma, Shirley Wichert and Faye Wichert both of Hutchinson; brothers, Earl (Sally) Wichert of Hutchinson, Gaylen (Nancy) Wichert of Buhler and LaVerne (Alice) Wichert of Wheatland, Wyoming.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church. Burial will follow at the Buhler East Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-7:30 p.m., Friday, April 1, at Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church with family greeting friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Pastors in Partnership (for the 2022 Cottonwood Complex Fire Victims) or Samaritan's Purse in care of Buhler Mortuary, PO Box 589, Buhler, KS 67522.

Wow...this just blew me away. I am really going to miss him. When we would come back and visit, he was the one that I always looked for to talk with and so enjoyed doing that. I am so sorry. Gary and Gaylen built the addition to our house we lived in at Buhler. He was a great, talented, hard working guy. Laughed easily. We will see you guys soon as we will attend the visitation, but unfortunately not the funeral. You are in in our thoughts and prayers.

Bonnie and family, I am so sorry to learn of Gary's passing. My heart goes out to you. I always enjoyed seeing Gary at church and appreciated the work he did on my house porch remodel. He leaves a big hole that no one else can fill. I cannot be there in person, but am sending prayers of support for you all. Love, Susan
