Gayle Bentley of Vernon Connecticut, beloved wife of 48 years to Dennis and cherished mother to Carolyn, passed away on Tuesday October 7th, 2025 at the age of 76. She was born on November 27th 1948 in Flushing NY. She grew up and lived in the same house in College Point, NY for 69 years. Seven years ago, when her husband retired, the family moved to Vernon.
She was daughter to the late Angelo Tierno and Norma (Martinelli) Tierno. She was pre-deceased by her sister Susan Socha.
She worked for JC Penney before transitioning to homemaker once her daughter was born. During that time she also spent many years as her mother's caretaker.
Gayle was an avid lover and collector of angels and with her faith, made numerous donations to countless catholic charities throughout the years. Her favorite saying when ending a conversation was "Angels On Your Pillow". Gayle enjoyed lasting friendships with many, some of which lasted for 65 years of which she was very proud.
Although our time with Gayle has come to an end, her personality and generosity will be cherished by those who knew her for years to come.
Funeral services for Gayle will be held privately, and entombment will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, in Vernon, are in care of her arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. To leave a condolence, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com
