Obituary
Giuseppe "Joe" Pira was a Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather who entered into eternal rest on October 5, 2021 at the age of 87.
Born July 1, 1934 to Giuseppe and Carmela Pira in Licata, Sicily, Giuseppe was an identical twin with Franco Pira. December 6, 1958 Giuseppe joined his childhood friend Clelia in holy matrimony. In 1966, he moved to Genova, Italy with his wife and his 3 young daughters, where his first son was born. While in Italy, Giuseppe worked as a Merchant Marine Chef on the Achille Lauro Ship for 10 years.
The young family made the life changing move to Brooklyn, NY, USA in November 1970. He was the last to follow his 4 brothers to the land of opportunity in hopes of a better future for his family. Two years later, they had their 2nd son, totalling 5 children. In New York, he continued in the culinary field as a baker for 20 years. In October 1989 Giuseppe and Clelia, and their sons made another big move across the country to Thornton, CO, to join their eldest daughter where they lived the rest of their lives together. While in Colorado, together with his daughter Carmela and son in law Raffaele, Giuseppe contributed as a chef to the successful opening and operation of their Italian Restaurant Original NY Style Pizza, where his culinary legacy still continues after 30 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his six siblings. He is survived by his wife, Clelia Pira, his five children, Carmela & spouse Raffaele Aiello, Palmina Pira, Maria & spouse Joseph Kurdy, Anthony & spouse Arelys Pira, and Gianfranco & spouse GinaMarie Pira, as well as 14 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren.
