Harold M. Rudin, aka Mr. Jai Alai, left for the big fronton in the sky on November 12, 2024.
Harold was born on May 28, 1938, in Hartford, CT, to Dorothy K. and Meyer J. Rudin. He
attended Weaver High School and coordinated every reunion for the Class of 1956. He was a
UCONN graduate and a proud member of Phi Epsilon Pi. Harold married Roberta Mae DuBrow
on June 25, 1961, and they remained married for 53 years until her death in 2014. Harold is
survived by his children, Danylle Rudin of Newburgh, NY, Rabbi Jennifer Rudin and her fiancé,
Dr. Jeffrey Bornstein of Milford, MA, and Robert Rudin of Revere, MA; his grandchildren, Elana,
Mariel Sable and her fiancé Kyle Kaneb, and Gabrielle Sable, and Matthew and Sam Coleman;
his sister Cynthia and her husband Ron Naiman; many loving nieces, nephews and their
children; and friends too numerous to count. In addition to his wife, he is predeceased by his
brother, Laurence Rudin. Harold and Roberta were well known among their synagogue families
at Teferes Israel and later Beth David, where they helped run BINGO, served on the Board, and
served many meals as kitchen volunteers. When they moved to Becket, MA, they became
passionate volunteers at Jacob's Pillow, where they made many new friends and mentored
young dancers from around the world and became active members of Congregation Ahavath
Sholom of Great Barrington. Harold was a principle at Rudin & Kalin Insurance and owned the
Dairy Queen in Wilson, CT, for many years. During ice cream season, you could find him
entertaining family, friends, and Jai Alai players in the back of the DQ and listening to Barbara
Streisand, whom he loved second only to Roberta. A funeral service will be officiated by Rabbi
Jennifer Rudin at 11 AM on November 14, at Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue,
Hartford, followed by interment in Teferes Israel Cemetery, East Granby. Immediately following
the interment, the family will receive visitors at Temple Sinai, 41 West Hartford Rd, Newington,
until 5 PM. Shiva will continue at the Rudin/Bornstein home beginning Saturday, November 16,
6 to 8 PM; Sunday, November 17, 3 to 6 PM; and Monday, November 18 through Wednesday,
November 20, 6 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to
Congregation Ahavath Sholom, 15 North St, Great Barrington, MA 01230, Jacob's Pillow Dance,
358 George Carter Road, Becket, MA, 01223, or Jewish Family Service of Metrowest, 475
Franklin Street Suite 101, Framingham, MA 01702.

Harold, #0 as he often liked to refer himself as, was the best of the best.
Among many other kind and generous acts, for many, many, years he sponsored the annual "Rudin Jai Alai Tournament". Following the event everyone was invited for food and drink at his nearby home with his beloved wife Roberta, and pet dog Chula wonderfully joining in.
What a very special man he was.
My deepest sympathies to the Rudin family. Bob DiScipio

I know of no amateur player in the American Jai Alai world, who
-Knew more professional players,
-watched more Hartford Jai Alai performances,or
-was a greater fan of Joey
than Harold Rudin.
I am so glad that my last memory of Harold will be us watching
the last performance of Dania's 2024 season.

Harold was often my back-court partner at Jai Alai Heaven. We had lots of fun and won our share of games. Harold had a way of assisting the ball into the cesta with his belly. I will always remember Harold and my memories of/with him will always make me smile.
