Helen Kay (Askren) Finn, age 80, of Corydon, Indiana, passed peacefully in her sleep on May 26, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Kay was born on April 21, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky, and was a graduate of Corydon Central High School, Class of 1964. She went on to attend both the University of Tampa and the University of Louisville, where she studied music and performed flute and piccolo professionally for both the Tampa Bay Philharmonic and the Louisville Orchestra.
Kay is survived by her three sons, Dennis, Andrew, and Jonathan, who along with their wives and children, were the joy of her life.
She was a faithful member of the New Salisbury United Methodist Church, where for many years she enjoyed playing piano and organ and conducting the choir. In addition to being a performing musician, Kay held numerous jobs over the years, including positions at Wal Mart, the Corydon Cinemas, private music instruction, and as an in-home care assistant. Later in life she enjoyed volunteering at the Harrison County Hospital and helping with local elections. She enjoyed working with the public in Harrison County enormously.
She also loved board games, hunting mushrooms, March Madness, and the Indiana Hoosiers.
In addition to her three sons, Kay is survived by numerous extended family members and dear friends. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey, Indiana, on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Her funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m Saturday, May 31, with visitation starting at 11am. Kay will be laid to rest at Woods Chapel Cemetery, next to her beloved adoptive parents, Dennis and Helen Askren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests tributes to Kay be expressed as donations to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
