Passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at St. Francis Home. Age 82 years.
Herbert was born in Frankenlust, Michigan, the son of the late Ruth (Mammel) and William Rueger. He grew up in the German farming community speaking German until the age of 6. He graduated from Handy High School, Bay City and served with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married Sandra Koch, February 1, 1964. His wife of 60 years survives him. Herbert was employed by General Motors, Saginaw Steering Gear, Plant 3 and engaged in farming. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hemlock. He enjoyed restoring, driving and repairing classic cars. He attended many car shows and events, always making friends along the way.
Surviving besides his wife, Sandra, are two sons, Kevin and Wendy Rueger; Brad Rueger; two granddaughters, Melissa and Matthew Harger; Ashley Rueger; a great grandson, Everett Harger. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister and brother, Helen Foss and Clarence Rueger.
The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2461 N. Raucholz Rd. Hemlock, MI. Rev. Dr. William L. Morris will officiate with burial in Richland Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may visit with family at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday and then at the Church from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the funeral service.
