Jack F. Carlson, age 69, died at home Thursday, May 15, 2025, of natural causes. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In his honor, please support Iowa City Bike Library or The Friends of the Animal Center Foundation.
Jack was born on February 28, 1956, in Los Angeles, CA, the son of Laverne and Sally (Hoogner) Carlson. He served in the US Navy from 1975-1977. Jack did many things throughout his career. He owned JC's Café and graduated from Kirkwood Community College with an associate's in culinary arts. Jack was united in marriage to Teresa Sigler on September 18, 2010, at Lake Macbride State Park. He was an avid cyclist and sports fan, especially the Lakers and Cubs. Jack was a dear friend to many in Iowa City and beyond who will miss him.
Jack is survived by his wife, Teresa of Iowa City; son, Cory (Rebecca Carlson-Love) Carlson of Oxford, IA; mother, Sally Carlson of Oelwein, IA; six siblings, Mike Carlson of Akron, GA, Rick Carlson, Tracey Carlson, Kristi (Larry) Heppner, Kirk Carlson and Matthew (Heather) Carlson; and best dog friend, Bell Star.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Laverne.
