Jack Olin Horsley Jr. passed from his earthly life to eternal life March 9, 2024
He was loved dearly by his wife, Nancy of 64 years and three children: Mark and wife Barbara Horsley, Jackie and husband Mark Hughes, and Dr. Brock and wife Donna Horsley. Six grandchildren: Max, Dr. Jake, Nate and wife Kayla Horsley, Lisa and Jim Hughes and Josh Horsley, also Great Grandchild Seraphina Horsley.
Jack was born in Canton, Ohio, parents Jack and Ruby Horsley, August 17, 1938 then moved to Michigan and graduated Trenton High School in 1956. Nancy and Jack, "special" friends since Jr. High, High School and college, attended CMU and graduated from MSU marrying their senior year.
Jack entered the Ford Motor Co. Graduate Training Program and later became General Supervisor in the Steel Division of Ford's Rouge Complex.
They lived in Allen Park and then fulfilled their dream of moving to the country, Newport, and remodeling a 100 year old farm house with land and mostly learning as they went. Often interesting!
Jack earned a private pilot's license and flew his own planes.
He became President of the Jefferson School Board and chairmaned a successful campaign to gain approval for a millage passage that returned Jefferson from half days to full days. Sodt Elementary School was also built under his chairmanship.
Jack carefully planned many camping trips for the family that covered most of the United States.
He especially enjoyed fishing and he and Nancy experienced many "fly in only" remote trips into Northern Ontario. Also, enjoyed were the annual vacations to Combermere, Ontario with all the kids and grandkids.
He enjoyed planning and cooking for family get togethers usually planned months ahead of time.
He was a loyal employee with a strong work ethic and a strong moral sense of right and wrong. He had a quiet but deep spirituality and was so proud of his family.
He and Nancy owned "The Granary" in Newport, a Country Gift and Home Furnishing Shoppe for 27 years.
He survived multiple serious health issues and surgeries over 20 plus years all without complaint even when there was much suffering. He was surrounded by his entire, loving family when he passed and now he is pain free and in the arms of a loving Savior.
In lieu of flowers, please consider gifts to Samaritans Purse.
