It is with deep sadness that the family of Jack William Oddy, of Troy, Michigan, share of his passing on November 30, 2025. Jack passed away peacefully at the remarkable age of 92 surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born to John and Hazel Oddy in a small farmhouse located in Lake Orion, Michigan, which is now Canterbury Village, on October 12, 1933.
After graduating from Northville High School in 1952, Jack went on to enlist in the United States Air Force where he served as a Staff Sargent at an Air Force base located in Fairford, England. During his time in the military, Jack traveled to many places including Newfoundland, Canada; Copenhagen, Denmark; Bordeaux, France; Palma de Mallorca, Spain; Lisbon, Portugal; and Gibraltar, United Kingdom.
Upon his return from service, Jack worked for Ryco Engineering for 39 years as a drafting engineer. He also met the love of his life, Gayle Long, through his sister, Clara Davis. Jack and Gayle married on April 17, 1970. The two spent a momentous 55 years together and during that time they raised two loving children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Hazel Oddy, and also by his sister, Clara Davis, and brother-in-law, Herbert Davis.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Gayle. He is also survived by his son, Christopher (Christina), and daughter, Shannon (Michael), along with his cherished grandchildren Savannah, Sarah, and Aaron. As well as many nieces and nephews.
A service will take place in the chapel at Christian Memorial Gardens, 521 East Hamlin Road, Rochester Hills, 48307, on Thursday, December 4, at 1pm. Military funeral honors will be rendered by the United States Air Force to honor Jack's devotion to serving his country. Following military honors, a eulogy will be read and there will be a brief sharing of memories.
Jack will be laid to rest at Christian Memorial Gardens after the completion of services in the chapel.
