Jack Alton Tompkins, affectionately known as "JT", passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, at the age of 86.
Born on March 1, 1938, in Royal Oak to Herbert and Irene (née Steward) Tompkins, Jack spent his childhood in Madison Heights, where he graduated from Madison High School in 1957. A hard worker, Jack sold equipment in the manufacturing industry and was known as a skilled handyman, generously offering his time to help senior citizens in his community.
Jack has been a resident of Clawson since 1999, where he enjoyed his retirement. A sports enthusiast, he was an avid supporter of Michigan football and the Detroit Lions, rarely missing a game.
On November 21, 2007, Jack married his beloved wife, Mary (née Bilbrey), in Toledo, Ohio. The couple had known each other since 1998 and shared many cherished memories together.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife Mary Tompkins, as well as his children, Debbie DiBattista, Tom Tompkins, Shelly Tompkins, and Stacy Cavender, his step-daughter, Christine Hirt, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Irene, and his nine siblings: Robert, Eileen, Doris, Mary, Herbert, Grace, Irene, Ruth, and Gerald.
