James Edward "Jim" Colgan, 80 of Bonita Springs, FL passed away Friday, March 25, 2022 at Joanne's House at Hope Hospice. Formerly of Pleasantville, NY he began wintering in Bonita Springs in 2004 before making it his permanent home in 2008. Jim was born May 11, 1941 in Bronx, NY a son of the late Robert P. and Dorothea D. (Doherty) Colgan.
Jim was a proud veteran, serving his country in the United States Army from 1961 – 1964. He attended Dakota Wesleyan University and Pace University. His career was spent working for General Foods for over 20 years, retiring as Payroll Manager in 1985.
During retirement, Jim was a faithful parishioner and a very active volunteer at Holy Innocents Parish in Pleasantville, NY where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. He enjoyed trips to the casino, fishing and golfing.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Lois Jean (Pulvermacher) Colgan; loving brothers, Robert Colgan, Jr. of Estero, FL, John (Robin) Colgan of Greenwood, SC, Thomas (Cathy) Colgan of Estero, FL, niece, Colleen (Kevin) Bakker; nephew, Thomas (Stacy) Colgan; and many other friends' children who knew him as "Uncle Jim."
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail So., Bonita Springs, FL 34134. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:30 AM at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 28300 Beaumont Rd., Bonita Springs, FL 34134.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jim's name may be made to Joanne's House at Hope Hospice, 27200 Imperial Parkway, Bonita Springs, FL 34135 or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
