James Grant Holcomb(e) age 94, passed peacefully on the evening of August 22 at his home in East Hartland.

Jim was born in Westfield, MA, September 26, 1930, to James Starr Holcombe and Eva Messenger Holcombe. He was pre-deceased by his first wife Natalie (Ware), and his second wife Elaine (Carson). He leaves behind 3 children, Gary Holcombe, Alison Giallanza, and Cynthia Vincent, 9 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

He grew up on the family homestead in Granby, working the dairy farm and learning carpentry. He graduated from Simsbury High School.

He was very proud of his military service having served in the Air Force at Shepherd AFB in Texas serving as chaplain's assistant, and medic, and then the Air National Guard for many more years. He was a regular attender in full dress uniform at the East Hartland Memorial Day parade right up to and including this year.

He worked at cabinet making, was an engineer at Tuttle & Bailey and Kaman, and retired from Shepard Plumbing. He enjoyed playing the piano and organ, singing in the choir, and serving at his church for many years. His music would often be heard throughout the household, and he is remembered by many for his lively piano playing.

He built a home for his family on West Granby Road in the 1950's and built his final home in East Hartland.
