James William Langford, age 70, was called home to be with Jesus on Friday, May 23, 2025. Born in Evansville, Indiana, James graduated from Harrison High School in 1973, where he began a life filled with love, hard work, and adventure. At the tender age of 12, he met his one and only true love, Deana Williams. Their love story blossomed over the years, culminating in a beautiful celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary last Christmas.
James began his career in floor covering installation at just 15 years old. This career not only provided for his family but also allowed him to build a loving home where they resided for 40 years. Known as a hardworking, and "do-it-yourself" kind of man, he was the life of the party, always ready to share a laugh and a story. Although he fell just shy of hours for licensure, pilot school was one of his most enjoyed goals.
In his younger years, James cherished the thrill of driving fast cars (for which he trophied in), the camaraderie of deer hunting, and the joy of deep-sea fishing. He loved spending time with his buddies, enjoying a cold beer, 4-wheeling, and creating lasting memories with his family on vacations to the Islands and Florida beaches. In his later years, he found great joy in weekends spent boating at Patoka Lake and fulfilling his dream of retirement as a snowbird in Florida.
James was also a devoted dog lover, and he is now reunited with his beloved companions: Alamo, Belle, Rex, Sabrina, and Cody, who await him at Heaven gates.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deana Langford; daughter, Jennifer (Charles) Bates granddaughter, Hannah (Jantzen) Emery; great-grandchildren, Faith, Jaxson, Brylee, and Savannah Emery; sister-in-law Susan Williams and brother-in-law Tim (Tara) Williams. James was an uncle to Carina Wahlstrom, Rylee Williams, Sydnee Williams, Aiden Williams and Randy Hart. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Evelyn Langford, his sister, Faye Laverne Langford, father-in-law Paul Williams and mother-in-law Ruby Burkes.
A member of Crossroads Christian Church, James was baptized and found comfort in his faith throughout his life.
A celebration of Jame's life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on June 6, 2025, at 6 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather to share stories, honor his memory, and celebrate the remarkable life he lived at 4pm until service time.
James William Langford will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and all who loved him. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of James, please visit our floral store.
