James Richard Luttrell Sr., 74, of Crestwood, Kentucky, formerly of Greenwood, Indiana passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at his home.
He was born on Friday, December 5, 1947 to the late Richard S. and Inell (Branham) Luttrell in Indianapolis, Indiana.
James married the love of his life Penny J. Barrett on February 11, 1966 and they spent 55 years together. He enlisted in the US Army on September 20, 1967 in Indianapolis, Indiana and served active duty until October 23, 1969 and was honorably discharged at Ft. Eustis, Virginia. Over the next 19 years he served in the Army, Army Reserve and National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Penny J. Luttrell; sons, James Richard Luttrell II and his wife Katie, Paul Evan Luttrell and his wife Missy; grandchildren, Isaac, Colton, Mason, Charlotte "Lottie," Abigail "Abby Jo," Elijah "Eli;" and sister, Joyce Golden.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Monday, January 3, 2022 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Columbus, Indiana.
Funeral service will begin at noon.
Entombment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Greenwood, Indiana.
