James A. "Jim" Zboray, age 78, was born on August 12, 1946 in Rahway, New Jersey. He passed peacefully into the Lord's presence on December 30, 2024 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Jim was a graduate of Linden High School, Class of 1964 in Linden, New Jersey. He furthered his education at Newark College of Engineering (now New Jersey Institute of Technology) and received a Bachelor of Science in 1968 in Chemical Engineering. He continued his education and received his Master of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1970 from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and finally in 1993, he received his Juris Doctor degree from South Texas College of Law Houston.
Jim worked for ExxonMobil throughout his entire career, at locations in the United States, Canada, and France. He served in various engineering positions from 1970 to 1995, then as an Intellectual Property attorney from 1995 until retirement in 2006. Following his retirement, Jim remained of counsel for the company until 2016.
Jim was passionate about photography, astronomy, music, and Japanese language and culture. He was an avid fan of basketball and Formula One racing.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Duke University Hospital in Raleigh, and most especially those of 4700 South, for the compassionate care rendered to him and to us during his final weeks.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew B. Zboray and Gertrude L. (Burleigh) Zboray.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Louise (Beers) of Rolesville, North Carolina; his sons, Steven Zboray of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jeffrey Zboray of Washington, DC; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Kristine Zboray of Mercerville, New Jersey; his nephew, Michael Zboray of San Leandro, California; and his niece, Amy Zboray of Hamilton, New Jersey.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Ken Underhill officiating.
Contributions may be made in Jim's memory to Samaritan's Purse, Boone, North Carolina (samaritanspurse.org) or the charity of your choice.
