Jason Rux, 49, of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
A Visitation in honor of Jason will take place from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Burial will follow at the Rux Cemetery, rural St. Hilaire, MN.
Jason Howard Rux was born on September 2, 1973, in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Orlie Sergius and Donna Mae (Scott) Rux.
He graduated from Hopkins High School in Hopkins, MN. After high school, Jason worked at Auto Service Centers in the Minneapolis area until he moved back to Thief River Falls with his mother after the passing of his father.
Jason found a passion in welding and restoring old cars. He was in his glory being around other car enthusiasts and could always strike up a conversation about a project. Jason was not employed at the time of his death due to complications with the disease. He would still find the time to stop into the auto parts stores even for the simple "Hello".
Jason could always be found in his shop – even if it was for some quiet time to ponder on the next project. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone and had an amazing sense of humor.
Jason is survived by his mother, Donna Rux of Thief River Falls, MN; siblings Pam Hamilton of Thief River Falls, MN; Duane (Jane) Rux of Thief River Falls, MN; DelRay (Jackie) Rux of Holt, MN; Susie Lerol of Thief River Falls, MN. Nieces and Nephews: Britney, Jacob, Josh, Shyanne, Cassandra, and Majesta. Aunt Lillian Rux, Thief River Falls, MN; Betty Brownlee, Ft. Worth, TX; Uncles: Donnie (Cheryl) Scott, St. Hilaire, MN; Kenny Scott, St. Hilaire, MN; Raymond (Cindy) Scott, Red Lake Falls, MN; Richard (Micki) Scott, St. Hilaire, MN along with many cousins and friends.
Jason is preceded in death by his father, Orlie, grandparents Walter and Lily Rux, Donald and Evelyn Scott, Uncles: Floyd Rux, Franklin (Wendy) Rux, Delmer (Gloria) Rux, Clayton (Jean) Rux. Aunts: Wanda (Clarence) Schroeder; June (Cecil) Olson; Viola (Erwin) Melvie, and good friends Shawn Johnson and Duane Kotrba.
A special thank you to Dr. Potti, Claire and the cancer team at Altru Cancer Center in Grand Forks, ND, Trails for Treatments, and all others who helped Jason during this journey.
