Jean Marie "Jeanie" Duke, 84 of Braintree, passed away peacefully at home with her family present on Monday, May 5th, 2025. Born July 27, 1940, in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Catherine "Rita" (Driscoll) Duke and Arthur Duke. She is survived by her only sibling, Dorothy (Duke) Quinn of Carver, and many cousins, friends and Godchildren.
After graduating Fontbonne Academy in Milton, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph. She later received her degree in Psychology from Regis College. After teaching 5th grade for several years as a CSJ, she decided to return to the secular life. For a brief time, she substituted in the Public School System, but when an opening for a 5th grade teacher became available at Sacred Heart Grammar School in Weymouth Jeanie applied. It was there she stayed for the rest of her teaching career. She was also the Director of the CCD Religious Program at that Parish for several years.
Jeanie was a great teacher, who loved children, and was highly respected by her peers, the kids and their parents. She was a very kind, honorable and fair person, who in her spare time, enjoyed shopping and vacationing with the family and her beloved German Shepherd dogs.
