Jerry Thomas Jarrett was the eldest of six children born to Lawrence V. Jarrett and Rosie B. Jarrett on October 26, 1954, in Ripley, Tennessee.
He entered wedded bliss with Theresa A. Jarrett on December 15, 1984, and to this union they joined together five children: Bernard (Anisa) Tucker, LaKeia Rich-Jarrett, Marques (Lisa) Burnett, Kharnicia (Sidney) Hines, and Avanti Jarrett (Jeremy) Brown.
Jerry's love for Christ was shown daily, not only by the life he led, but also by the many lives that he touched.
He started off his education at Carrie Gosch School in East Chicago, followed by Roosevelt High School in East Chicago. After his family relocated, he attended Hammond High School and went on to pursue his undergraduate degree from Langston University in Oklahoma. He then received his law degree from Valparaiso University and was a loyal member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. He practiced law for over twenty years and in the later years of his life, worked as an Executive Relations Case Manager.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He was adored and loved by many, but will especially be missed by his loving and devoted wife, Theresa A. Jarrett; five children, Bernard (Anisa) Tucker, LaKeia Rich-Jarrett, Marques (Lisa) Burnett, Kharnicia (Sydney) Hines, and Avanti Jarrett (Jeremy) Brown; eleven grandchildren, Andrew Mills, Desmond Brown, Armand Nunziato, Jaliyha Brown, Ava Nunziato, Zarria Jarrett, Jakolbi Ratcliff, Angela Brown, Kelly Brown, Bentley Hines, and Jeremy Brown, Jr.; siblings, Randy (Sheila) Jarrett, Dennis (Pam) Jarrett, Lawrence M. Jarrett, Tracey (Roland) Cusic, and Darrin Jarrett; extended family; Sylvester (Iva), Smith, Keith Smith, Alexius (Malcolm) Barber, Vernon (Ceona) Smith and LeTerra Smith (Edlin); and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the ones that were near and dear to him, our 11 grandchildren, by making a contribution to their lives.
Visitation Wednesday, September 27, 2023, 9:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. with Homegoing Services 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. from First Baptist Church 4911 McCook Avenue East Chicago, Indiana 46312. Interment Concordia Cemetery Hammond, Indiana 46324.

The moment Jerry took his last breath on earth, he was instantly transformed directly into the presence of God, not temporarily, but forever. An exchange took place, Jerry took off the burdens of this life and began the realities of new life, that is eternal and free from the groaning´ s we now experience.

Theresa and family, your faith is strong. Continue to cling to God, family, extended family and friends during this challenging time. God is with you now, and always and carries you in his everlasting arms.

Always remember that when life is darkest, God is closest

Man of God rest easy on the wings of eternity.

We love you,
Johnson, Howard, Harper, Watkins, Price and Oloyede family
